I don’t know about you guys, but for me Sundays are an odd mix of relaxing weekend and busy week. On a typical Sunday morning I will get up after sleeping in until about 9 a.m. and start my day with a cup of Twinnings English Breakfast Tea which is usually followed by relaxing in front of the TV or with a book with a cup of coffee. But by 1 in the afternoon all I can think about is everything that I need to do in the upcoming week. I used to find myself overwhelmed by the thought of it all especially when I was in college. So once I graduated I decided that every Sunday I would take some time out to make a list of all the things that I could do on Sunday to help me have a productive week. I found that doing these things not only helped me to not become overwhelmed but it also made my Sundays feel more productive. Here are ten things that I do on Sunday to help with my week:
Catch up on emails. I have the Gmail app on my phone so I usually check my emails as soon as I get them but sometimes I fall behind so I make sure to take the time to catch up.
Create a to-do list for every day of the week. This one is probably my favorite. I like to get a clear idea of what I need to do every day so that I don’t become overwhelmed.
Clean and organize. For me this means my apartment, but could also be your workspace/office. The less clutter the better organized you will be.
Plan out blog posts for the week. I like to sit down and think about posts that I can make during the week ahead of time. I also try to make a post on Sunday.
Organize photos for blog posts. This could be finding them, or taking them, or even editing them. I prepare my photos and then save them to my computer so that they are ready to go when I need them.
Update your calendar. I have a white board in my apartment that I use as a calendar, on it I write down my work schedule and any other big events that I have coming up. I found that having it hanging there where I have to walk by it every day helps me remember it all. I also use the Google calendar app on my laptop.
Seek inspiration. This one might not work for everyone but for me, especially in the face of really hectic weeks, I find that seeking some inspiration helps me stay motivated. I also seek inspiration for blog posts.
Pamper yourself. Again this might not work for everyone but I find that sometimes taking the time to do a face mask, or paint my nails makes me feel a little better about myself going into the week and gives me a little boost of confidence.
Plan a break/treat. Let’s face it the week can definitely take its toll on us. Sometimes I get to the end of the week feeling absolutely exhausted, and a little defeated. So on Sunday I try to plan a little midweek treat for myself to release some of the pressure. This could be anything from going to dinner with friends, to renting that movie that I really wanted to see but never got a chance to.
Write down goals for the week. In addition to my normal day to day responsibilities I like to set weekly goals for myself. This could be anything like to catch up with old friends, or to push a little further in my workouts.
